Easiest freaking broken head bolt extraction in the history of mankind… no contest. 😂
Sir this video is GREAT!! THANK YOU so Much!! Very detailed!! What a savings this will be in this DIY!! I'd like to buy you a beer!! 🍺 Blessings!!
Happy to help👍
Recently had same issue as on n51 used a stud extracter as it was with the valve cover still on but worked great to get it done
Yessss! Can’t wait to see the progress on this! It’s also super helpful to see you walk through all the issues. I’ve got a 2009 328i SULEV w/ 90k miles and this will undoubtedly come in handy.
Very low mileage there are plenty of things that can go wrong but not necessarily will, if you have any questions just ask im here to help🙌
You can also use hot glue stick if it moves this freely
Why is it broken if the threads aren’t tight. Tty bolts?
It’s a mystery to me always like that in this location
These is a special circumstance because 95% of the times is gonna be tight
In this specific spot it’s always like that
@@Zeiten okay
Left hand drill bit, done in 20 seconds
Useless. Bolts that break off are never loose.
You clearly have no idea
@@ZeitenYou clearly have no idea, 9/10 bolts break because of the tensions on the bolt being too great. I almost never have a BMW in my shop that has had broken bolts just come out. 🥴
@N54.S6 every single time i remove this bolt exactly this way, also applies to n52 valve cover bolts and belt tensioner bolt, extracted hundreds of them throughout my decade of fixing bmws only
Left handed drill bits
Prevent the original issue, and don't buy a BMW. Get a Toyota.
Oh, the Irony
@@mikekilgore1289 I understand the Supra exists.
So toyota bolts are resistant to breaking huh?
@@wilsonvinas5906 ask the mk4 supra
@@thatguy1217 ****toyota engines. Scuse me.
And I think u need to do a part two for this stubborn bolds… many thanks for this
how much more harder is valve cover replacement compared to ofhg
I will like to join you people
eye surgent
BMW did the recall for this on my N52 and it still makes that noise that goes away with the oil cap off what can I do?
Tovarish...in terms of reliability and maintenance how would you compare n51/52 with n26...? Possible light track use... Thanks for great videos!!
Every BMW i had, these gaskets leak starting around 60k. If you use Mobil 1, you are guaranteed to have these leak early. 4 BMW's and i learned this the hard way. Like clockwork, Mobil 1 and a leak shortly thereafter. N54, N52, M62 no matter. Identical result.
I have a 2011 328i N51! I get a shudder when coasting at low speeds at high speed it goes away i think its the toruwe converter but not sure would like to get ur option on it i was thinking of changing trans fluid and addid a shudder conditioner would u recommend thanks in advance car has 108k miles i also need to replace the radiator at the sensor is messed up and gave me a check engine 🤦🏻♂️ and the ibs
As for radiator it is covered under sulev warranty so check with your local bmw dealer (depending on what state you are in) as for shudder sounds like suspension issue to me and has nothing to do with transmission. Never ever add any additives to transmission, check your front control arms and tire threads as well as tire balance
Also a possibility driveshaft flex disc and/or center support bearing
Do you have to reset the system on this after changing the pad ?
Yes i show how in the end of the video
Oh great..i have the same truck and my vanos are showing a problem as well..reduced power and chugging like a stuck choke .
Oil pan gasket please
I t will be on the channel very soon😉
Tim! This is Reed! The ex owner. This is my baby! Thank you for taking such good care of it. I fell on hard times and wasn’t able to care for it the way I used to! Also, tire after tire kept popping on me hence the weird layout!! Thanks for making this happen. I feel that this car was donated in a way to science and for the better good. Love that it lived in for everyone 🤓🙏🫡. Thank you!!!!🙏
Keep an eye out first update coming soon😉 she will have another life for sure🙌
Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate your time..
Happy to help🙌
Hey great video. I’ve had to tackle this before when I worked for a shop but I was wondering what you charged because I’m going to do one at my house and don’t know what to charge.
BMW design.
Awesome. So that expensive BMW oil is designed to deteriorate the coolant hose below the oil housing so all hell breaks loose?
It is because you believed what BMW told you, use castrol..... never use castrol, that shit is SHIT
Can you show how to replace roof top lock sensor and locking mechanism micro switches for top ?
Can you do the radiator on that E93? I hear there are some braces for rigidity in the way that may make it more difficult to replace.
It is absolutely the same as in this video DIY E90 BMW 328i Radiator replacement (E9x, 325i, 330i) ua-cam.com/video/PeamlL4SDYU/v-deo.html
Those extra braces are not on the way at all
@@Zeiten Thank you very much!
Looking forward to seeing the repairs
Coming soon, next Monday😉
Thank you! Quick question, so I don’t drive my BMW often and therefore 5K miles takes a long time,,, should I change the oil every 6 or 9 months?
Stick with every 6 months
It's a deal now and days. But like you said, doing it yourself is the only way to own a BMWs unless your a billion air. You can have it done, let's say not a problem. But for most of us who have the natural talent and know how, which most of us grew up doing sence we were kids. Now have the car we have always wanted but could not afford then. Now is the time to put that talent to work and save astronomical amounts of money on our dream car. Because after replacing any and all needed parts you might say self trained to perfection. Look at Dave kindig "bitchin rides". Now million air and self trained designer in the custom automotive field. Anyone can do it, it's what you can teach to everyone with a BMW and do the best thing, (save money) and never again visit that rip off dealer that only wants one thing, your money. Thank you Brother Technician for doing a very helpful service to everyone. For those who know, and most of all those who don't. Great channel Sir. Always, 23 year BMW Master Mechanic.
BMW is trash
Would be great to see how you do a coolant flush/replacement of the mickey mouse flange, and also a brake fluid flush!

Do a rear shoe replacement/ebrake repair.
fantastic project! 2 years ago, I didn't even know how to remove wheel lol and one day, i got quite junky 2008 bmw 328i with 1200$(non-drivable, no ignition, lots of missing parts(i.e. side mirrors etc). I've studied so hard on bmw and used "bimmerpost", "INFP bmw diagonsis tool", bmw service mannual, and millions of youtube videos(i.e. from zeitan or FCP euros etc). And For over 1.5 years,, i replaced over 65 parts in total, in practically most of parts that you need to change over time.., (including 100% of what you mentioned in this video lol ) , and now, man it runs as smooth as butter I haven't watched your recent video, but the first repair since i got this bmw was to replace "valve cover gasket" and your video was very helpful, especially tips for removing breather hose lol. IT SAVES ME TONS OF TIME FOR ANOTHER REPAIRS LATER(i.e remove intake manifold to replace my DISA/Starter/Crankshaft position sensor)!
Happy to hear that, keep up the maintenance👍
Hi Tim, Can you talk about the AUC sensor? I have F26 replaced new updated Sensor but the code still shows up, different code. not sure why.. research online shows people dislike that sensor a lot and does not seem easy to fix..!
These become cheaper than even e46 models. E36 will be out of reach soon!
Market will correct itself, it is a natural e90 platform will be a bit more expensive than e46 soon
Always liked this convertible
👍
🤯most awesome channel 👏👏👏👏
Thank you🙌
I hope it was good deal for you...I m out of the country for the summer ibeill hit you up latter homie
It is a fun project🙌
perfect timing bro, if youre doing shocks im interested to see that since i need that done soon lol. but nice car man and its worth it to save it especially if youre doing it yourself
Yes shocks are definitely on the agenda😉
I’ll second this. I don’t know what all needs to be replaced on mine but I’m nearing 100k miles and figure I’m getting close. Any overview on typical suspension work that has to be done would be great. I also have the sport package which makes it not as easy to find accurate info.
@LandonWest shocks and control arms coming soon, in the next video which will be posted on coming Monday i will point that out. As for repairing all of it diys are come very soon😉
Can I do on bmw ews
Please make a DIY video for E93 roof maintenance including seals and drains for leaks as well.
That’s a bit out of my wheelhouse but i’ll see what i can do👍
I would expect a lot of the oil is leaking from the oil filter housing if one of the two top bolts is broken or missing. That is the most common cause of belt shredding. I work in oil leaks from the top down. The oil pan gasket is a last resort. Often a quarter turn on each fastener is sufficient to stop leaks unless the gasket is brittle. Good luck in the project!
My $500 2001 BMW E46 cost me nearly $25,000 so far.
love that you got an N51 to play with! I drive a 2011 328i xdrive sedan w/ the N51. Looking forward to the content!
Thank you🙌
Great project car! Looking for to the series. Your channel is my #1 source of DIY information for my kids' BMWs. Thanks to you, I've been able to do all the repairs myself. Keep up the good work!
